Why is this Important?

LGBTQIA+ youth across the country and world are in crisis, this notion is backed by years of research done by The Trevor Project. The issues these youth are facing is being perpetuated by the Christian Church (capital C referring to the church at large, not a particular denomination or group). Our intent is to provide a safe space, connection, mentorship, love, belonging, stability, and hope for these precious beings and to invite them into God’s expansive love.

According to The Trevor Project,

“LGBTQ youth who had access to spaces that affirmed their sexual orientation and gender identity reported lower rates of attempting suicide.”

Some of our youth have access to other affirming spaces, while for many we are the sole affirming space in their life, including in their homes. The Trevor Project’s research has found that LGBTQ youth who reported having at least one LGBTQ-affirming space had 35% reduced odds of a suicide attempt in the past year.
